  The Dark Side of Light

 

➊ What images come to mind when you think of pollution?   

❷ Skies filled with smoke?

❸ Plastic bottles floating in the ocean?

❹ Maybe chemicals buried in the soil?

❺ We are all familiar with environmental problems such as air, water and land pollution.

➏ But there is another type of pollution that has been ignored by many because of its seemingly harmless nature.

❼ It goes by the name of light pollution.

 

❽ Light pollution is generally defined as the misuse or overuse of artificial lighting.

❾ To put it simply, when too much light is used or pointed up to the sky, it comes in contact with the dust, water, and clouds in the atmosphere.

❿ The light bounces off them and is scattered all over the sky, creating a glow.

인공조명: 오용 혹은 남용

 

➊ 여러분은 공해를 생각하면 어떤  이미지가 떠오르나요? 

❷ 연기로 가득 찬 하늘? 

❸ 바다를 떠다니고 있는 플라스틱 병? 

❹ 어쩌면 땅 속에 파묻힌 화학물질들? 

❺ 우리 모두는 공기, 물, 토양 오염과 같은 환경 문제들에 익숙합니다. 

➏ 그러나 겉보기에 해로워 보이지 않는 속성 때문에 많은 이들에 의해 간과되어 온 또 다른 형태의 공해가 있습니다. 

❼ 그것은 빛 공해라는 이름으로 통합니다.

 

❽ 빛 공해는 일반적으로 인공조명의  오용이나 남용으로 정의됩니다. 

❾ 간단히 말하면, 과도한 빛이 사용되거나 하늘로 향하면, 그것은 대기 중의 먼지, 물 그리고 구름과 접촉합니다. 

❿ 빛이 그것들에 튕겨 하늘 전체에 흩뿌려지고, 불빛을 만들어냅니다.
