Two Different Paintings

 

01   Matisse and Chagall both deal with the same subject in their paintings, but they are different.

 

02   First, in Matisse’s painting, you can see Icarus flying, but in Chagall’s painting, the boy is falling.

 

03   This difference comes from the different ideas that the two painters had.

 

04   Matisse thought that  Icarus was brave and adventurous.

 

05    In contrast, Chagall thought that  Icarus was foolish.

 

 

 

01 Matisse(마티스)와 Chagal(샤갈)  둘 다 그들의 그림에서 같은 주제를 다루었지만, 그 그림들은 다르다.

 

02 첫째, Matisse의 그림에서는 Icarus가 날고 있는 것을 볼 수 있지만, Chagall의 그림에서는 그가 추락하고 있다.

 

03 이러한 차이는 두 화가들이 갖고 있던 서로 다른 생각에서 기인한다.

 

04 Matisse는 Icarus가 용감하고 모험심이 강하다고 생각했다.

 

05 반면에, Chagall은 Icarus가 어리석다고 생각했다.
