❶  Gender research shows a complex relationship between gender and conflict styles.    

❷  Some research suggests that women from Western cultures tend to be more caring than men.   

❸  This tendency may result from socialization processes in which women are encouraged to care for their families and men are encouraged to be successful in competitive work environments.  

❹  However, we live in a society where gender roles and boundaries are not as strict as in prior generations. 

❺  There is significant variability in assertiveness and cooperation among women, as well as among men.     

❻  Although conflict resolution experts should be able to recognize cultural and gender differences, they should also be aware of within-group variations and the risks of stereotyping.     

❼  Culture and gender may affect the way people perceive, interpret, and respond to conflict;  however,  we must be careful to avoid overgeneralization and to consider individual differences.

 

 

 

 

❶  [ 성별과 갈등 스타일 ]  성별에 관한 연구는 성별과 갈등유형 사이의 복잡한 관계를 보여준다.

❷  [ 서구 문화의 여성 ]  몇몇 연구는 서양 문화권에서 여성이 남성보다 더 주변을 돌보는 경향이 있다는 것을 시사한다.

❸  [ 사회화 과정의 영향 ]  이런 경향은 여성은 가족을 돌보도록 권장받고, 남성은 경쟁적인 직업 환경에서 성공하도록 권장받는 사회화 과정의 결과물일지 모른다.

❹  [ 성 역할이 변화하는 사회 ]   그러나, 우리는 성 역할과 경계가 이전 세대만큼 엄격하지 않은 사회에 살고있다.

❺  [ 여성 사이의 개인차 ]  남성들 사이에서 뿐만 아니라 여성들 사이에서도 단호함과 협조성에는 상당한 정도의 차이가 있다.

❻  [ 전문가의 인식 ]   갈등 해결 전문가는 문화적 차이와 성별의 차이를 인지할 수 있어야 하지만, 그들은 또한 그룹 내의 차이와 고정관념을 갖는 것의 위험성도 알고 있어야 한다.

❼  [ 과잉 일반화의 위험성 ]  문화와 성별은 사람들이 인식하고, 해석하고, 갈등에 반응하는 방식에 영향을 미칠 수도 있지만, 우리는 과잉 일반화를 피하고 개인적인 차이를 고려하도록 주의해야 한다.
