❶ Mirrors and other smooth, shiny surfaces reflect light.

❷ We see reflections from such surfaces because the rays of light form an image on the retina of our eyes.   

❸ Such images are always reversed.

❹ Look at yourself in a mirror, wink your right eye and your left eye seems to wink back at you.

❺ You can use a mirror to send a coded message to a friend. 

❻ Stand a mirror upright on the table, so that a piece of paper on the table can be clearly seen in the mirror.

❼ Now write a message that looks right when you look in the mirror.   

❽ Keep your eyes on the reflected image while you are writing and not on your paper.

❾ After a little practice, it will be easier to write “backwards.”

➓ When your friend receives such a message he will be able to read it by holding the paper up to a mirror. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

❶ 거울과 부드럽고, 광택이 나는 다른 표면들은 빛을 반사한다.
❷ 광선이 우리 눈의 망막에 이미지를 형성하기 때문에 우리는 그런 표면들로부터 반사된 것을 본다.
❸ 그런 이미지들은 항상 거꾸로 되어있다.
❹ 거울에 비친 여러분의 모습을 보며 오른쪽 눈을 깜박여 보아라. 그러면 왼쪽 눈이 여러분에게 눈을 깜박이는 것처럼 보일 것이다. 
❺ 여러분은 거울을 사용하여 친구에게 암호로 된 메시지를 보낼 수 있다.
❻ 탁자 위에 놓인 한 장의 종이가 거울 속에 명확하게 보일 수 있도록 거울을 탁자 위에 수직으로 세워라.
❼ 이제 거울을 볼 때 정상적으로 보이는 메시지를 적어라. 
❽ 쓰는 동안 종이가 아니라 반사되는 이미지를 계속 보아라. 
❾ 조금 연습을 하고 나면, ‘거꾸로’ 쓰는 것이 더 쉬울 것이다.
➓ 여러분의 친구가 그런 메시지를 받으면, 그는 그 종이를 거울에 비춰봄으로써 그것을 읽을 수 있을 것이다.
