❹  Antony Wood, a Professor of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology, explains that advances in elevators over the past 20 years are probably the greatest advances we have seen in tall buildings.

사람들은 도시 발전에 대해 생각할 때, 수직 운송 수단의 중요한 역할을 거의 고려하지 않는다. 
실제로 매일 70억 회 이상의 엘리베이터 이동이 전 세계 높은 빌딩에서 이루어진다. 
효율적인 수직 운송 수단은 점점 더 높은 고층 건물을 만들 수 있는 우리의 능력을 확장시킬 수 있다.
Illinois(일리노이) 공과대학의 건축학과 교수인 Antony Wood(안토니 우드)는 지난 20년 간의 엘리베이터의 발전은 아마도 우리가 높은 건물에서 봐 왔던 가장 큰 발전이 라고 설명한다. 
예를 들어, 건설 중인 사우디 아라비아 Jeddah(제다)의 Jeddah Tower(제다 타워)에 있는 엘리베이터는 660미터 라는 기록적인 높이에 이를 것이다.
