❶ The basic aesthetic elements of cinema may be summarized as visual composition, lighting, movement, color, direction of action, editing, sound (dialogue, sound effects, and music), and special effects.

❷ These elements of film craft may represent aspects of actual subjects in the real world, but they may also embody subjective perspectives communicated by the filmmaker.

❸ For example, the angle of a shot may make a subject appear more or less powerful, and a long take may convey a deeper sense of continuous reality than a series of quick cuts.

❹ Sound effects recorded in postproduction may add realism and emotional attachment to footage shot in the field without sync sound.

❺ Adding a musical soundtrack may lend an emotional tone to a scene, reinforcing the message of the imagery.

❻ Even in direct cinema ─ the most pure mode of documentary style, which often relies on long takes and neutral camera angles ─ the filmmaker still makes decisions about where to put the camera, when to move it, and when to make a cut.

[ 영화 제작자의 주관적 관점을 구현하는 영화 기술 ]

 

❶ 영화의 기본적인 미적 요소는 시각적 구도, 조명, 움직임, 색감, 연기 연출, 편집, 사운드(대사, 음향 효과, 음악), 특수 효과로 요약될 수 있을 것이다.

❷ 이러한 영화 기술의 요소는 현실 세계의 실제 피사체의 모습을 표현할 수도 있지만 그것들은 또한 영화 제작자에 의해 전달되는 주관적인 관점을 구현할 수도 있다.

❸ 예를 들어, 영화 장면의 앵글은 피사체를 더 강력하거나 덜 강력하게 보이게 할 수도 있으며, 롱테이크는 일련의 퀵컷보다 연속적인  현실감을 더 깊이있게 전달할 수도 있다.

❹ 후반 작업 단계에서 녹음되는 음향 효과는 동시 녹음된 소리없이 현장에서 촬영한 영상에 사실감과 감정적 결합을 더할 수도 있다.

❺ 음악 사운드트랙을 추가하면 장면에 감정적 분위기를 부여하여 그 이미지의 메시지를 강화할 수도 있다.

❻ 롱테이크와 중립적인 카메라 앵글에 흔히 의존하는 다큐멘터리 유형의 가장 순수한 방식인 ‘다이렉트 시네마’에서조차도 영화 제작자는 여전히 카메라를 어디에 배치할지, 그것을 언제 이동할지, 언제 장면 촬영을 중단할지를 결정한다.

❼ 예술 형식으로서 영화는 세상의 현실을 제시하는 만큼이나 그 자체의 현실을 만든다는 결론을 피할 수 없다.

 

 

■ quick cut (퀵 컷) 영화 영상 기법의 하나로 컷과 컷을 바로 이어 붙이는 것으로, 숏을 연속적으로 빨리 이어 화면 간의 연결이 좋아지는 효과가 있다. 

 

■ direct cinema(다이렉트 시네마) 1960년대 미국에서 발전한 다큐멘터리의 일종으로 사실주의 영화 스타일로 제작되었다. 프랑스의 시네 마 베리테(cinéma vérité)와 유사하지만, 더 엄격한 형태로 알려져 있다.
