[ Expressing one's opinion ]

 

❶ If you do have an opinion, do not be afraid to voice it, both in tutorials and written work.

❷ Undergraduate tutorials all over the country each week are full of students, many of whom have great ideas, but who feel hesitant about speaking out or including them in essays.

❸ Working at degree level is all about reading, understanding and forming educated opinions based upon what you have read, but it is also, at its best, about having your own viewpoint.

❹ You will not get it right all the time, of course.

❺ There will be occasions when your tutor will point you in another direction, but if you offer an opinion, you will be impressing the lecturers, stimulating debate and, as importantly, saving yourself a lot of time.

❻ By venturing an opinion in a tutorial, you will get instant feedback, relevant guidance as to where to go next and a highly gratified tutor who will remember your original contribution to the course— always a good thing.

[ 자기 의견 말하기 ]

❶ 정말 의견이 있으면, 개별 지도 시간이든 교재 강의 시간이든, 그것을 말하기를 두려워하지 말라.

❷ 전국적으로 매주 학부의 개별 지도 시간은 학생들로 가득한데, 그들 중 다수는 훌륭한 생각을 가지고 있지만 그것을 공개적으로 말하거나 에세이에 그것을 써 넣는데 주저한다.

❸ 학부 수준의 공부는 모두 읽고, 이해하며, 읽은 것을 바탕으로 교양 있는 의견을 형성하는 것에 관한 것이지만,

    그것은 또한 최상의 경우 자신만의 관점을 갖는 것에 관한 것이다.

❹ 물론 항상 올바르게 이해하지는 못할 것이다.

❺ 지도 교수가 여러분에게 다른 방향의 길을 알려줄 경우도 있겠지만, 여러분이 의견을 제안하면, 교수에게 인상을 남기고, 논쟁을 자극하며, 그만큼 중요하게는, 많은 시간을 아끼게 될 것이다.

❻ 개별 지도 시간에 의견을 과감히 말함으로써, 즉각적인 조언, 다음에 어디로 가야 할지에 관한 적절한 안내, 그리고 여러분이 독창적으로 수업에 기여한 것을 기억해 줄, 아주 기뻐하는 지도 교수를 얻게 될 것인데, 이런 것들은 항상 좋은 것이다.
